Summary
Marcy Owens is a young woman on a road trip to find closure and meaning in her life. Her destination is the small mountain town of Beaver Run. She arrives at the Cafe and begins to meet the eccentric characters that populate this town. Upon checking into the Silver Horse Hotel, we begin to discover that she and her husband have been here before.
Returning to Beaver Run Cafe the following morning, Marcy is struck by the difference since her previous visit with husband Bobby. Randy, an outgoing gay man, is now running the Cafe for his grandparents and the place is infused with customers and new warmth.
As Marcy settles in for breakfast, she finds she has an instant rapport with Regina, her waitress. Regina, and later Randy, find it unbelievable that Marcy has been to the town before – and came back.
Regina is new to the town, and new to herself. We find Regina’s past is somewhat of a mystery. Marcy and Regina spend time getting to know one another, while Marcy comes to realize there is something oddly familiar about Regina. As questions come to the surface and emotions get involved, we find a clear connection between Marcy’s past and Regina’s present.
Beaver Run Cafe is Baghdad Cafe meets Six Feet Under garnished with Best in Show type characters.
